Designed to be a celebration of my book Humans of Haliburton Highlands, Book Launch Day became a celebration of my new life. The Retirement Plan
Sue Hincenbergs’ novel The Retirement Plan was first introduced to me through an Instagram account. My friend Glenda was pictured proudly holding up a book to announce her cousin Sue had published her first book. Intrigued by her post, I just had to get my own copy. I’m so glad I did.

Becoming a Writer
My grade two spelling programme was very prescribed. Monday, we painfully printed the weekly list words from our Nelson speller into our notebooks. Because I was in the “Robin” reading group, I was also expected to write a sentence for at least five of the new words.
